EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN LOCKER

NO. It looks great- a corridor full of big lockers where you can put your things. No carrying around a heavy bag all day... Sadly, however, we couldn't find any schools that have the big gym-style lockers you see on TV. "Small" and "tiny" were the words most often used by students all over the country. "You would have to run your stuff over with a truck if you wanted to put it in your locker", complains one student from Massachusetts. But at least these ones have lockerts. That i only the case in about half of schools. "Some schools don't allow them because kids can hide contraban in them", explains Heidi from California.

CHEERLEADERS ARE THE MOST POPULAR GIRLS IN SCHOOL

YES, BUT... "When I was in high school, there was an unwritten rule that the Homecoming King and Queen had to be a football player and a cheerleader," says Mary, and Ohio journalist. But in their daughter's school, the king and queen were members of the theatre club. "Theatre kids are popular now,! her daughter says, something Mary says would have been "inconceivable" in her day. "Jokcs and cheerleaders are not at the top of the socials tree," agrees a California student, but "there are some who believe that they are". OK, but do they all go around in their uniforms, like they do in glee? Apparently not: uniforms only come out for game days. And at least one school in California has banned them from classrooms: "cheeks are hanging out," says Traci Williams, the school principal. " We don't want the girls bending over".

WRITING - unit 1

THE DECADE 2000-2010

The decade 2000-2010 people remember for many reasons. There were a good times and happy events such as the first black person who arrived to the White house. There were also difficult times, like the twin tower attack.

IN the world of music, there were a lot of pop artists, for example the Michael Jackson, and Rihanna. In cinemas, there were a lot of good films like: Step Up 3D and remember me. Fashions were mainly the skinny trousers, and miniskirts and mini dresses.

But at the end of the decade, the world was a different place. Inventions such as as the Facebook and Whats app, changed people live. One of the most memorable events of the 2000-2010 took place in 2010 when one of the most famous pop singers, called Michael Jackson died. 

MY LAST SUMMER

WRITTING:

Hi, my name is Mireia, and now I'm going to talk about my last summer holidays.

First I'm going to talk about Ireland.

Second I'm going to talk about England.

And finally I'm going to talk about Platja d’Aro.

When I finished the school I travelled with my parents to Dublin, Ireland. I stayed there 3 days, and I visited lots of things. It was a good travel, but the city in general doesn't have lots of things to visit, in one or two days you can see all the good monuments. But I had a very good time there with my parents, and I think that it is a good city to visit.

Second I went to England, in a little city called Haleibury with Carla and more people from Barcelona. I stayed there for two weeks in a residence. There I did classes and activities every day. On Monday morning I did classes, and in the afternoon activities, on Tuesday I did activities in the morning and classes in the afternoon and like this every day. On Tuesdays or Wednesdays of every week we travelled to different places, like London, Cambridge... and on Sundays we had different options. I stayed very well there, but the food was horrible. I made a lot of friends from lots of countries, but mainly I did lots of friends from Barcelona and I miss them a lot.

And finally, I stayed in Platja d'Aro for about 1 month. I stayed there with my parents, my brother, and my cousin. There I did a lot of activities, but on the second day I felt sick and my cousin too and it was a bit boring because we had to take antibiotics. But we continued doing activities and we had fun. Every day there, was different. We did whatever we wanted and for me it was perfect. One day, one friend invited me to his parent’s boat in Palamós. It was a fantastic day because we went to a creek, and we stayed there all day. We swam in the sea, we ate in the boat... it was amazing. There I met another friends from Banyoles too, and we went to the beach, the disco… I love staying in Platja D'Aro, and every summer is better than the last.

In general it was a good summer, I did a lot of things and I had a lot of fun.

TAYLOR SWIFT

Taylor Swift's personal pop songs are loved by millions of fans... 
but it's fer positive attitude and generosity that make her a real star.

From the moment the 14 years old singer arrived in the city of Nashville, USA, it was clar she was destined for success. Taylor Sfwift moved to the American country music capital from her home in Pennsylvania for just one reason... she wanted to be a famous country singer. Her songs soon made an impression on music bosses... and her dream became a reality.

EARLY SUCCESS

In 2006, at age 16, Taylor released her fist single "Tim McGrwaw" about one of her ex-boyfriends. Love has een a theme of her music ever since. Taylor's public appreciated her intimate, autobiographical songs and in 2008 she was nominated for her first Grammy award. Then at the  2010 Grammy awards, she gbecame the youngest singer to win Album of the Year at the age of 20. 

LOVE LIFE

Recently, Taylor has been the subject of speculation about her relationship with One Directon's Harry Styles. She says she is embarrassed that people talk about her love life. In the past, Taylor has had lots of famous boyfriends such as Joe JOnas, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal. So does she always go out with famous boys? "I really don't have any rules whent it comes to height, age, career, choice" she says.

MIREIA: Hey, Mònica, what on earth is that?
MÒNICA: Oh, I got it this morning. what do you think? Do you like it?
MIREIA: mmm. I'm, not convinced.
MÒNICA: don't you think it's interesting?
MIREIA: Er, sort of, but I'm not suer about the face- it's a bit mad.
MÒNICA: Oh, come on! It isn't that bad. It's really colourful. It's good to have a new picture, anyway.
MIREIA: I suppos so.
MÒNICA: Don't worry, it'll be fine. It'll grow on you.
MIREIA: OK. We'll see.

UNIT 8 - Writing

TWILIGHT

I'd like to recommend a film which I've watched recently, called Twilight. The director of the film is Catherine Hardwicke.

The film is a drama and the setting is in Seattle, EUA. The main characters are one girl called Bella, and two boys called Edward and Jacob. Bella is a human girl, Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf.

The things I liked most about the book were the characters and special effects. Some of the scenes are memorable because it's a very wonderful story and the way it is told is fantastic. 

All in all, I really liked the film, and it has got a happy ending, I wouldn't change it. It's a film that sends a good message.

MÒNICA: Yes, one or two. Have you?
MIREIA: No. What about this one? Is it any good?
MÒNICA: I'd only recommend that if you like really bad musicals.

MIREIA: What's that? Mission to Planet Q? No, I'm not a big fan of science fiction. I'd prefer a comedy.
MÒNICA: A comedy... er... OK, well, try this one. It's got a really funny plot. I think you'll like it.

MÒNICA: No problem.

Dear Sir or madam,

I represent a group called "Protecting the heard students". I am writing to you because we are concerned about plans to close a park near my town because one company wants to build a motorway.

In our opinion, building a motorway is not safe, so if there is one near our town, the residents might be in danger. If we have a motorway here, it will be a problem cause there is goint to be alot of noise. A park is better, because the babies can play in there, it's safer, and it's a grenn zone...

We have therefore decided to take action, and we are going to organize a protest. for this reason, we are sending you a poster and we hope that you will support us and help to publicize this event.

WRTING - unit 6

ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF SCHOOL UNIFORM OR AGAINST IT?

At most schools in our area, people don't have to wear a school uniform, including my school. But in a lot of schools in Girona, it's have to wear uniform.

In my opinion, school uniform is OK, because it solves many problems.

Firstly if you have to wear school uniforms in the morning you don't have problems, like: I don't know what T-shits I have to wear, or: I like this trousers but with this T-shirt it doesn't hit it well...Secondly in the school everybody wear  the same clothes and if you go in a tour, it's less difficult that anyone would loss it. finally, you don't have to spend so much money on clotting.

so all in all, I think that it's a good thing to have a school uniform, but I prefer to wear my clothes every day because I like buying a lot of clothes and looks different every day.

PSY

FROM SOUTH KOREA TO THE USA

Psy grew up in Gangnam Distric, a rich district in Seoul, sout Korea. After leaving school he went to the USA to study busniess administration. Psy's father is in charge of a big companyi and Psy was going to take over one day.

PSY DISCOVERS HIS VOCATION

But Psy soon realized that he preferred the music world to the business world. He used the money for his busniess education to buy musical equipment and started studying music instead. With his experience of the USA and its music in his mind, he returned to South Korea with a clear idea: to become a famous singer.

Psy likes to have fun, and his humorous videos are a big part of his success ( he imitates artist like Kady Gaga). He beat stars Katy Perry adn Tihanna to win the MTV "Best Video" award in 10212. Social media have also made Psy famous. Las November, about 20.000 people came to see him at "flashoomb" event in Paris that was organised on Facebook.

A HERO IN KOREA

Many people go on YOuTube to watch Psy because they are curious: they want to understan why a crazey korean star is getting so much atteintin. but in his country, Psy is a hero. The government has given him one of the countr's highest honous for his esceptional service to the arts.

CAN PSY CONTINUE?

Amazed by his success, Psy is not sure if he can make another song better thatn "Gangnam Style". But he shouldn't sorry. Someone with the imagination to creat pop songs inspired by horses is sure to have lots of other crazy musical ideas.

IS INTERNET ADDICTION REALLY A PROBLEM?

REASONS:

- You can make more friends that in real life.

- You can play a lot of games, and the people prefer play games than go outside.

- You can make a lot of things (shopping, read the news...9

I think that internet addiction is a problem, but it also have good things.

Fistly, in my opinion, I think taht in the internet you can make more friends, but not always the friend that you make there are good, because you don't really know them.

In addition I think that you can play a lot of games there, and sometimes, people prefer playing games than going outside.

Finally, you can make a lot of things, for example, shopping, readin the news...

In conclusion I think that the internet has a lot of good and bad reasons, but if you use it well, you will not have problems.

MIley Ray cyrus was born in Tennessee in 1992. In 2006 MIley got the main character in TV show called, MIley Stewart who has 2 lives, one of pop super star, and another ordinary life, who has a normal girl, who goes in the school... And she became a fomous super star.

When the TV show, finishe, she wanted to become a woman, no t a girl, and she intended to change her hair, her clothes... and she changded, but in the heart of the little girl,s Miley always will be Hannah Montana.

Since then, Miley, was in another film,sshe created another songs... She has a lot of successful hits, because all of her albums and filns turned into very successful. Albums as, Meet Miley Cyrus, BREakout, EP, the time of our lives... and films as Hannah Montanta: the best of two worlds, The las song...

Miley cyrus has always been a famous person, still now she is a star.
